For the past dozen years, Victor Bayne has solved numerous murders by interrogating witnesses only he can see - dead witnesses. But when his best friend Lisa goes missing from the sunny California campus of PsyTrain, the last thing he wants to find there is her spirit.

Disappearing without a trace in a school full of psychics? That's some trick. But somehow both Lisa and her roommate have vanished into thin air. A group of fanatics called Five Faith has been sniffing around, and Lisa's email is compromised.

Time is running out, and with no ghosts to cross-examine, Vic can't afford to turn down any offers of help. An old enemy can provide an innovative way to track Vic's missing friend, and he enters into an uneasy alliance - even though its ultimate cost will ensnare him in a debt he may never manage to settle.

GhosTV PsyCop Book 6 (Audible Audio Edition) Jordan Castillo Price Gomez Pugh JCP Books LLC Books

I liked this series from book 1, and each one just escalates in quality as I read through to GhosTV. I finished it in one day, and it's been years since I liked a novel that well. The series combines some of my favorite things, strong main characters and supporting cast, mystery, and police procedural. Add to that the fascinating world of psychic phenomena and you get a truly irresistible set of stories from a talented writer. I'm on my way to buy the remaining books, which I will clearly ration my reading of in a responsible manner. Not.

GhosTV PsyCop Book 6 (Audible Audio Edition) Jordan Castillo Price Gomez Pugh JCP Books LLC Books Reviews

The series continues to grow. The world is fuller and makes more sense. The characters have a rich life of their own. GOOD WORK.
I see I'm coming to the end of the series. This book is just as fantastic as the other ones. The world building and characters keep getting better and better. This author should be drowning in awards. There should be movies.
This book easily gets five stars from me. It furthers the characters along in a fully engaging and entertaining manner, fulfilling you yet leaving you wanting for more.

If you're new to the PsyCop series, it's best to start at the beginning and read them through from the beginning Among the Living, Criss Cross, Body and Soul, Secrets, and Camp Hell. Each story builds upon the previous ones, and the characters grow and mature, unlike many series where each installment is interchangeable and the chracters seem more like snapshots that never change. A (very) brief synopsis is that Detective Vic Bayne is a government-certified Level 5 medium. He's the psychic half of a a PsyCop team, a police program that pairs a psychic cop with a non-psychic one to solve crimes that would otherwise be too difficult using only conventional police methods. Working in Homicide, his team has a very high success rate in that he can easily interview the deceased victim to find out who the killer is.

In "GhosTV", Vic and Jacob (his domestic partner, a non-psychic half of a different PsyCop team) discover that their friend Lisa has gone missing. She was being trained at an institute in California called PsyTrain, and has been missing for a few days now. Her roommate had disappeared previously, and while they thought the roommate just dropped out of the course, Lisa's disappearance suggests foul play at hand. The disappearance of their friend is troubling enough, but to add to Vic's tension, they're being accompanied (against their will) by Constantine Dreyfuss, the regional director of the Federal Psychic Monitoring Program, a possibly-shady top-secret government organization trying to get Vic to come work for them. After twice being locked up for years against his will by government agencies, and after talking to the ghosts present at the FPMP, Vic is understandably dead-set against working with them.

Vic is a more mature character in this book. Sort of. He's a bit more at ease with many things, such as spending time with Jacob's family. He's come a long way from the way he was in Among the Living, though he still carries a lot of emotional baggage. Jacob, aka "Mr. Perfect", starts to show some vulnerabilities as his character is also examined more deeply than before. For example, one occurrence in the story has Jacob backing off, and nearly bolting, out of fear while Vic forces himself onward. It's that event that has Jacob humbly telling Vic, almost apologetically, that he never fully appreciated just how brave Vic is (though Vic still doesn't really believe that he's brave). It's this furthering of the characters with great nuance that elevates the story into the five-star realm of ratings.

Sexual scenes are more sparse in this story. While there is a dose of eroticism, Jordan keeps it organic. That is, scenes of romantic and sexual natures aren't forced onto the reader, and only take place when it's appropriate for the characters. In this story, the characters are offered little opportunity to indulge themselves. This is ultimately rewarding as far too many stories and series are mere vehicles for eroticism. Not here though. The setting, events, and characters dictate when these scenes occur, and that adds to the level of realism throughout.

It's deliciously funny, exciting, gripping, interesting, and entertaining. There is one drawback to the story though.... it ends. As with all good writers and entertainers, you walk away feeling fulfilled, but still desiring a little bit more. One thing to be aware of is that this book is very much like "Secrets" in that while the main plot is concluded, the entire book builds up a secondary storyline that will be continued in the next book. And from what I can see, the followup to this story will be one heck of a roller coaster ride.
Astral Projections, Axes, and Ectoplasm, oh my! This series is binge worthy, in the end I did go to work today, but it was a little touch and go...not sure what to think about Con now...carrying on.
Each time, I try to read these slowly, and each time I hit a point where I need to finish! Vic learns quite a lot about what he can do. He learns quite a lot, period. Where less accomplished writers might have failed to convey what occurs, Price just leaves me hungry for more. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go buy the next book now. )
I liked learning a bit more about the FPMP and the director. I thought the astral projection concept was a cool addition, and I definitely liked seeing more of Victor's abilities. The plot was pretty interesting this time, and did a decent job keeping me engaged.

Didn't love the ending where Jacob decides to start a new job without discussing with Victor first. It still kind of bothers me how much they conceal from one another.

And there were far fewer sex scenes, which was noticeable and kind of disappointing.
One of the things that I find kinda funny is how these two are in their 40's (or close) and they still manage to be very horny. Specially Jacob. And most of the time, after so many sex scenes I start to get bored and wish they'd get it over with already, but not with these two. There's so much chemistry between them that everything they do, even the mundane stuff, keeps me intrigued and craving for more. In this installment, Vic finally gets to explore the infamous GhosTv. It was all I expected and more, and the parts I enjoyed the most were the Tv's influence on Vic, their astral projections, and most of all, the candy cane connection... A thing of beauty indeed. I am psyched to know more about Jacobs powers and I want them to get married.
I understand because of the very nature of Vic's personality we can't expect him to act all corny and head over hills about Jacob. But this book disappointed me in that regard. And it was pretty obvious, I mean Jacob goes astral for the first time and the one thing on his mind is how insecure he feels about Vic. I wish Vic tried harder because God knows Jacob goes above and beyond to make him happy.
At the end I am left with questions, where is karen frugali? And do we have to be scared of this five faith fanatics? And why does Con Dreyfuss "wink" at Vic?
Besides that, oh shock! At the end, for a minute I thought Jacob was going to propose!!! Wouldn't that be awesome?
I liked this series from book 1, and each one just escalates in quality as I read through to GhosTV. I finished it in one day, and it's been years since I liked a novel that well. The series combines some of my favorite things, strong main characters and supporting cast, mystery, and police procedural.
